Last spring during spring cleaning week I was hauling stuff back and forth between a storage facility across town and our house. When we were growing up one of our favorite treats was angel food cake. I don’t know what it is about this cake, but it was perfect. Sweet and airy, we loved to cover it in strawberry topping and whipped cream. Or sometimes we’d make the slices really thin and fill them with ice cream to make the most delicious ice cream sandwiches!  Actually I still love angel food cake to this day and we still make it a lot at our home. I’ve had those “small” filters for our kitchen for filtering our water. They work great, but my wife and I were talking about the rest of the house. Even though this dish has been around a long time, I’ll never get tired of it.  Now that I have a Crock Pot Chicken Ala King recipe that is every bit as good as my old skillet recipe, we’ll be enjoying it more often.  The recipe is pretty easy and basic, so once you get it in the crock pot, you might want to put together a batch of homemade biscuits to serve it over.  That’s a really nice touch that everyone enjoys.  You can also toast up some nice, thick and crunchy bread.  Just butter the slices and put them under the broiler until they brown. We did a lot of entertaining at our home over the holidays. We had some family visiting from out of town that stayed for two weeks, so there were a few more mouths to feed than usual. Then there were larger gatherings and parties at Christmas and New Years, so all of that meant a lot of meals! We had a lot of big breakfasts, lunches, and of course lots of dinners. I shouldn’t have been surprised; The Magic Zoo has already come up with so many unusual earrings that I adore. But when I found this pair of whimsical sterling silver giraffe earrings that seem to be looking right at me, I nearly fell off my chair! What a creative way to make them- it’s an angle I never expected to see in a pair of giraffe earrings. But when you think about it, it’s a vision you do see a lot of at the zoo, or hope to anyway.
