It’s Time for a Divorce Lawyer

Everyone hates lawyers… until they need one. Well, I’ve concluded I need one. After months of marriage counseling, my husband and I have finally decided that things aren’t going to get better. He’s never around. He works all the time for a major computer manufacturer here in Austin and his travel schedule is getting worse. He’s gone for 2 or 3 weeks each month. There’s just no way to repair our relationship when he’s not even here.

I started by asking some friends who’d already been through this if they knew a good divorce attorney in Austin. I was surprised at the wide variety of advice that people felt the need to dump on me once I asked. It seems everyone assumes they are an expert.

In any case, I did get 3 or 4 solid recommendations, and I went online to research each of them. Believe it or not, one of the lawyers didn’t even have a website, so I scratched them off the list. Two of them had websites, but they were basically just online brochures. However, one of the lawyers not only had a good website, but there was a really cool online Austin divorce seminar that I watched. It was sort of like “Divorce 101″. I thought the information and the rest of the site was so helpful that I’m meeting with them next week.
