This Ficus Microcarpa is a Larger Bonsai
If you’re looking for an easy indoor bonsai tree that’s almost two foot tall, then the Ficus Microcarpa, or the Tiger Bark Fig, is the bonsai you need. This large bonsai will stand above many of your other bonsai, but that only helps to vary your collection and brings great visual appeal. The Ficus Microcarpa is incredibly hardy—it can live in conditions where few other fig bonsai trees can. You can actually put the Tiger Bark Fig outside during the warm months if you like, but don’t keep it out there too long—it doesn’t like temperatures under 50 degrees. It doesn’t need a huge amount of light, but it does need to be watered when it gets dry. The Ficus Microcarpa features unique flecks of color on its bark and has bright green, glossy leaves that remain on the tree year round.
While the Ficus Microcarpa bonsai may not need a great amount of light, it does need some, and it will actually grow and develop more quickly if placed in an area where it gets a large amount of light. It also needs good airflow, like all indoor bonsai. Place the bonsai somewhere where it gets light, isn’t crowded up against other bonsai or plants, and make sure it gets plenty of water—if you do, it will thrive.
